Save Water, Save Money!
Cooking only three nights each week also reduces washing up. It’s unlikely two or three plates will warrant a washing up session.
By now you have likely started water-saving strategies in your home (see Core Principles in our seasonal apps). You also know that a lot of water goes into manufacturing food. So by using Table Tucker you have already collectively made some big water savings. (See World Crunch in our seasonal apps for some great stats.)
Here are some simple actions you can do to reduce your water use further.
Fill a bowl in the sink half full and wash all your veggies at once.
Recycle the water for use in the garden.
Use a bowl in the sink to capture water especially the water that leaks when you are waiting for it to turn from cold to hot.
Fancy a cup of coffee? It saves energy if you pour only the amount of water you need into the kettle for a coffee.
When a meal needs boiling water boil the water in the kettle first and then put it in the pot or bowl for microwaving.
It also saves money and water if you fix drips and only do the dishes when there is a full load, whether they are hand-washed or washed in a dishwasher.
Cooking only three nights each week also reduces washing up. It’s unlikely two or three plates will warrant a washing up session. Over time this single action could have an incredible collective effect in water savings.
I have discussed (in Core Principles) how meat production is a very water intensive process. Therefore, if collectively we all eat less meat this can also have a huge impact on reducing our overall water consumption.
Saving water with Table Tucker is a double-whammy! Less water usage through less meat consumption and less water through less washing up.
